Irene attended the Chemical Engineering program at the Polytechnic University of Milan, Italy, for both her Bachelor and her Master’s Degree.
For her Master’s project, Irene worked on nanogels for drug delivery applications. She completed her Master’s Degree in Milan in December 2015. She then moved to Macquarie Unviersity where she completed a Master of Research in Molecular Sciences with a project focusing on the control release of melatonin.
Irene is currently a PhD candidate working towards a better understanding of melatonin absorption and bioavailability. She designs melatonin formulations with the use of mesoporous silica materials and polymers and tests them in vitro and in vivo.
